As an OTC Trader at FiveWest, you will play an integral part of our trading desk, responsible for executing trades in OTC foreign currency and/or cryptocurrencies. You will need to leverage your market knowledge, analytic skills and risk management expertise to optimise trading strategies and contribute to overall profitability of the desk.

Key Responsibilities

Trading Operations

• Execute OTC trades on behalf of clients with precision and efficiency.
• Manage the trade execution process from inception and settlement, including trade confirmations, settlements and reconciliation.
• Assist with the management of liquidity and stock to optimise trading desk performance and profitability.
• Monitor market conditions, analyse market trends, economic indicators and news events to identify trading opportunities and make informed decisions
• Manage trade execution process, including trade confirmations, settlements and reconciliations.
• Refine workflow processes and refine trading strategies.
• Continuously try to optimise our OTC trading workflow and processes.

Risk Management

• Follow and contribute to risk management strategies and controls
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry regulations and best practices.
• Ensure all trades comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies, adhering to KYC/AML strategies.

Client Relationship Management

• Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a primary point of contact for clients.
• Maintain and foster relationships with counterparties, brokers and other external stakeholders to assist with the growth and development of the OTC desk.

Administration

• Communicate with any third parties in order to facilitate trading activities, including communicating with banks or exchanges and providing the relevant documentation or information as requested.
• Assist with ensuring the trading department’s administration is performed timeously, professionally and effectively.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics or related field.
• Proven experience (1 - 4 years) as an OTC trader or in a similar trading role within the crypto financial industry.
• Must understand interest rates and macroeconomics.
• In-depth knowledge of OTC markets, trading strategies, risk management techniques, interest rates and macroeconomics.
• Proficiency in using trading platforms, risk management systems and financial software.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced trading environment.
• Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise and manage multiple.

This is an in office position at FiveWest's offices in Foreshore, Cape Town.
